10.06.2010 - COLLABORATION WITH PIANO VIRTUOSO IIRO RANTALA; RUISROCK PERFORMANCE BROADCAST ON FINNISH NATIONAL TV
Turisas will be featured on a Finnish TV show Iiro irti ("Iiro Unleashed") by renowned pianist and TV personality Iiro Rantala. Each episode will show Rantala, a well-known Finnish crossover musician with roots in jazz, taking part in performances by bands and artists of various genres. Turisas was asked to show Rantala how to put up a proper metal show, while the other episodes feature Finland's top artists from blues, schlager, rock and chamber music genres. Rantala will join Turisas onstage in Ruisrock, Turku on Saturday 10 July (Main Stage, 13.45-14.45) and the performance will be broadcast on 15 August on Yle Teema, a channel of Finnish National TV.

10.06.2010 - TURISAS MUKANA IIRO RANTALAN UUDESSA TV-OHJELMASSA; RUISROCKIN KEIKKA TELEVISIOIDAAN
Turisas on mukana pianovirtuoosi Iiro Rantalan uudessa TV-ohjelmassa Iiro Irti, joka kuvataan tänä kesänä. Jokaisessa jaksossa Rantala, joka tunnetaan muun muassa jazz-yhtye Trio Töykeiden perustajana, liittyy eri artistin keikalle bändin ulkojäseneksi musiikkityylien vaihdellessa metallista kamarimusiikkiin. 22.04.2010 - TURISAS AUSTRALIAN DATES NOT CANCELLED!
You may have seen an announcement by JSR that the Turisas Australian tour is cancelled. The truth is that they have gone bust and have pulled out of all their commitments, including our tour.
However, we are not willing to give up so easily, and are currently in negotiations with another promoter to save these shows and continue with the tour as planned. We are doing everything we can to make this happen. Everyone who has tickets already should hold on to them until further notice.
We will keep you updated, and please note that the only official word on this tour will come from us - ignore anything else you may hear!

13.04.2010 - TURISAS TO PLAY IN CHINA IN MAY
Turisas will perform in China for the first time in May: the band will play three gigs on 25–27 May in Beijing and Shanghai in connection with Shanghai World Expo 2010. The band is excited about this rare opportunity and is highly looking forward to the shows.

Helsinki Festival shows w/ Stratovarius, Negative, Before The Dawn
The Expo will be held in Shanghai, China from May 1 to October 31, 2010 and is a scheduled World Expo in the tradition of international fairs and expositions. The theme of the exposition will be "Better City – Better Life" and signifies Shanghai's new status in the 21st century as a major economic and cultural center . It is expected to generate the largest number of visitors in the history of the world's fairs in terms of gross numbers.

We have begun work for our upcoming third album in Sound Supreme studio, Hämeenlinna, Finland – the same studio where we recorded the previous album "The Varangian Way". The new album, successor to the renowned records Battle Metal (2004) and The Varangian Way (2007), is due to be released still later this year. Vocalist, songwriter and producer Mathias Nygård comments:
“After a nine-month break from touring to be able to fully focus on songwriting, we've finally moved forward and have now started recording. It's going to be a long project, and keep us busy all the way until the break of summer, but believe me, the wait will be all worth it. With three years between albums, there's been enough of time to find a fresh angle and new ideas not to repeat ourselves or albums we've done in the past. The songs rock big time, but the epic elements aren't going anywhere – it's going to sound larger than ever before. The leap forward is going to be just as big as between Battle Metal and The Varangian Way. “

Ask and ye shall receive – after so many requests, TURISAS is finally doing the band’s first tour in Australia. Fresh from the studio, the band is coming for three gigs at the end of May. Warlord Nygård comments:
"Fucking hell! It's finally happening. We've been asked to take the trip to the complete opposite side of the globe for a long time, but for a reason or another it's never been possible. I don't need to tell you how excited we are about finally making it. We've heard rumours about a strong following down there, so now it's time to show us what all that is about! We're taking a break from the studio and the recording of our forthcoming third album to spend less time in your country than it takes us to travel there, so the expectations are high. We for our part will most definitely be bringing you a show with all the extra energy piled up from a year off the road. We're hungry, we're determined, and we're ready. We sure hope you are too!"

15.01.2010 - TURISAS - one of Terrorizer’s "Artists of the Decade" - Battle Metal among "100 Great Albums"
Finnish battle metallers TURISAS are part of Terrorizer’s Secret History Of The Decade, a special issue of the British magazine providing an essential guide to extreme metal from 2000 to 2009. It goes through the last ten years' biggest musical movements including the most essential albums and artists.
Among some of metal scene's most legendary acts, Turisas was chosen as one of the eight Artists of the Decade and the band's 2004 debut album Battle Metal made it to the 100 Great Albums of the decade.

We just posted online a new video clip, in which Nygård speaks about the past summer, the upcoming third Turisas album, new songs and future touring plans.

In other news, Nygård and Turisas were awarded with the 2009 Culture Award by the Regional Council of Häme province. Since 1991, the award has been given annually for a person living and working in Häme region, for achievements on the field of culture. The award was received by Mathias and Jussi on Monday, 23 November. The Council mentioned that Nygård and the band represent "new kind of creativity in Häme" and that they "create new international culture by using old tradition". Cheers for that! (Too bad no vodka was served).

We're pleased to announce that TURISAS have been added to the bill for BOA 2009. This will be the band's only UK performance in '09!
2008 has seen the band embark on their biggest ever tours: from their own UK/ Europe headlining tour to Russia, from the Paganfest tour in the US to summer festivals and now supporting DragonForce throughout the UK/ IE, the US and Europe in 2009. TURISAS maniacs take heed! Grab a pint of blood, black paint or shoe polish, put on something furry and get your warpaint in shape as a massive touring campaign by Finnish folk metal masters TURISAS has just kicked off in the UK! It will take your beloved, brave warriors first through UK/Ireland in September/October, then the US & Canada in November/December until the final leg of the tour hits mainland Europe in early 2009. The band will be direct support for Dragonforce, so get ready for one hell of a party!

"Fresh from the first show in Oxford, we're sitting here in backstage drinking the first beers! The gig was awesome, and we're really glad to be on tour once again.
The summer was very busy - after having got used to spending our summers at festivals around Europe for years, we faced an exciting change as this summer with most of the festival shows taking place in our home country Finland. Finnish warmongers TURISAS are set to make their much anticipated return to North American shores this fall as direct support to Dragonforce. 10.07.2008 - TURISAS CONFIRMED TO PLAY SHOW IN LONDON FOR THE KERRANG! WEEK OF ROCK!
In the run up to this year's prestigious Kerrang Awards the magazine will be hosting their annual Kerrang Week Of Rock between August 16-20, they will be held at the London Barfly and London's ULU - with a killer bill being hooked up for both venues on every night of the week in the run-up to the Awards.
Everyone's favourite Finnish Warriors Turisas have been confirmed as the headline act for the Barfly in Camden London on August 20th with support from Raven's Creed & Witchsorrow.

Finnish warmongers TURISAS are currently working on their 1st DVD which will be out later this year - but not only that: They are currently also rerecording their crowd favourite “Battle Metal”. Since it is high time to finally have an official video-clip for the song and also to pay tribute to their dedicated fans (without whom there is obviously no such thing as a crowd favourite) they want YOU, those fans, to take part in their video for “Battle Metal 2008”!
Read what the Warlord has to say himself on his call to arms: "In the last few years, we have noticed a growing amount of people showing up at our shows wearing war-paint, self-made outfits and other regalia. It is of course very flattering as these people have usually put down a lot of working hours preparing themselves for the shows - something not every band can expect from their fans. It is not something we see only in certain territories, but everywhere we've been whether it's the UK, US, Russia or Spain. This is why we want to give our fans the opportunity to participate on our upcoming DVD and music video, by sending us material of themselves as the red-black legion of TURISAS at locations all around the world."
Get your video-cameras out and film you and your mates going NUTS. Please understand that just footage that you created on your own will be used, so no “borrowing” from movies, from the internet etc. TURISAS want YOU, their fans, in their video!
Please use the original tape or copy the footage to a DVD in the best possible quality and send the material on DV-tape or DVD together with a filled out version of a short contract until July 25th.

Fresh from the Paganfest USA tour, Turisas (finally!) themselves confirm the supporting slot on Dragonforce's upcoming UK and Ireland tour, starting in September 2008.

To properly celebrate the start of their first headliner tour through Europe & UK, Finnish folk/metal warriors TURISAS have now launched an exclusive competition especially for you, the fans! Here are the details:
Be "the face in the crowd"!
On each of the upcoming shows TURISAS will take a picture of the audience every night from the stage and pick out one face randomly from the crowd. That person will be the lucky winner of an impressive TURISAS-fan package, including a signed tour poster with war paint hand prints of all band members on it, a signed 'fan extraordinaire' tour-pass, a guitar pick, a lighter and, of course, a printed and signed version of your photo in the crowd. 12.02.2008 - LISKO MISSING, STEP IN ACCORDION PLAYER FOR SPRING TOURS
We hereby announce, that we have been forced to hire a step-in accordion player to replace Lisko on all announced upcoming tourdates. We have an important show this Friday at Finnish Metal Expo (FIN) and two lengthy tours in UK/Europe and USA just around the corner - but no accordion player.
The thing is, we played a cool show in Groningen, Netherlands on 11th January and everything was cool. Then the next day, before the flight, some of us decided to check out Amsterdam really quickly, by train. Lisko had behaved in a bit hazy way during the trip, but it was nothing that weird (considering he is Lisko); however, he never showed up back at the airport. We got an interesting phone call, where he told that due to "special" reasons he wouldn't fly in the same plane with us. This alone was pissing us off a bit, but we decided he could do it on his own expense. However, after returning to Finland, despite our attempts, there has been practically no communication with the guy, apart from a couple of interesting SMS's (so apparently he's alive): no rehearsals, nothing. We don't even know if he's back in Finland at the moment.
This puts us in a difficult situation: with a lot of pre-arrangements like flights and visas to be done, and with all our upcoming responsibilities we have no other option than to release Lisko from his duties for an undetermined time period, starting from today. Luckily for us, we already managed to get a replacement for him on such a short warning time: the step-in accordionist for Spring 2008 will be Netta Skog, who also helped us out with the latest European tour in October-November. No permanent accordion player will be added to the current line-up at this point. TURISAS also wants to point out that NO shows will be affected by the small change in the line-up.

After a triumphant support-slot for Iced Earth and Annihilator TURISAS will be on the road again in March and April 2008.
"The tour with Iced Earth and Annihilator in October was great; we made a lot of new friends and fans, and both bands were great guys to be on the road with. The reactions were awesome, even if there was a lot of people in the crowd who had never heard of us before. However, we could easily understand that some of our fans weren't prepared to pay the tickets on some 30 euro for seeing us play for 30 minutes - that's 1 euro a minute if you were not too bothered about the other two bands! This is why we are now returning to play full headline sets in Europe for a reasonable ticket price. TURISAS continues to establish their definitive brand of battle metal and has taken the UK by storm after recently landing the cover of Terrorizer, in addition to performing at The Download Festival (Linkin Park, Manson, Slayer, Maiden) and the Metal Hammer awards this past summer.
Central to The Varangian Way is the group's concept of a journey through the East-European river route through the lands of modern day East Europe. The Northmen who traveled this path in the 9th-11th centuries were called Varangians. Key to the album's concept is a search for self and identity, both of which are explored by the protagonist in The Varangian Way's eight songs. Truly a display of the band's dedication to the conceptual elements of the album, TURISAS made sure to include cultural influences from the lands the Varangians would have traveled through.
